Gameday Itinerary

Playoff vs. Russell County

Russell County High School

November 8, 2024

Note: Correct uniform is MANDATORY. Students should be wearing the NEW blue Northridge band t-shirts, and tall black socks. Failure to bring the necessary materials will result in being placed on a non-performing status for the game. Parents, friends, family, non-band students, and alumni are not allowed in the band room, band section in the stands, or any other location where the band is stationed unless they are approved by the director as a chaperone.


9:15 Start of 2nd block, all students need to arrive to the band room prepare for departure.

Students will have until departure to complete all tasks. In addition to eating lunch, students at 

this time are required to:

  1. Get dressed in full uniform. Jackets and shakos will be brought on the bus.

  2. Wipe down shoes. 

  3. Polish Instruments.

  4. Load equipment onto the trailer. 

  5. Clean the band room.


10:15 Receive uniforms, students must be in band shirts and marching shoes BEFORE

departure. Students may put on bibbers and jackets upon arrival.


10:43 Students will be released to go to the lunch room for first lunch. Return to the band room

after.


11:30 Board the buses and depart!


1:00 Arrival at Hwy 82 rest stop - Maplesville, AL


4:00 Approximate stop time at Buccee's, Auburn. BRING MONEY FOR FOOD.

5:30 Approximate arrival time, Russel County High School. Unload equipment, put on bibbers,

jackets, and shakos.


6:00 Cadence to the stands.


7:00 Game time!


9:00~ Approximate Game end, load the trailer, board the buses, and head home!


12:00AM~ Approximate arrival at the Band Room. Students are not allowed to leave until all 

instruments and equipment are put away, uniforms and shakos are put away correctly 

and the Band Room is clean. Students will group up to be dismissed by Mr. Ardovino after clean-up duty.


MARCHING ATTIRE: 

Full Marching Uniform: bibbers, jackets and shakos, 2024 Northridge band shirts, black or dark color shorts, Marching Shoes. Money (cash) for food, change of clothes for after, blue t-shirts must stay on.


ITEMS NEEDED:

Polished Instrument, cleaned marching shoes, proper attire (listed prior).


AUXILIARY ATTIRE: 

Full auxiliary uniform for Guard and Majorettes, detailed in the band app. Money for food, change of clothes for after, blue t-shirts must stay on.


ITEMS NEEDED:

Poms, Flags, equipment bags, proper attire (listed prior).


Parents and non-band members are NOT allowed in the school, Band Room or band section at

the stadium unless they are scheduled to work as a chaperone, are helping with the meal or are

on the equipment crew.


RULES AND EXPECTATIONS

General:

  • Be respectful to the Director, chaperones, and each other.

  • You may only use the band hallway to get ready. The auditorium is off limits.

  • You are responsible for your own equipment, instrument and uniform.

  • Students who did not pass off will not be allowed to perform, but must still attend the game as an equipment manager.

  • Conduct yourself with dignity and class. Everything you do is a positive or negative reflection of our school and our band.

  • Guidelines and policies in the Band Handbook and the TCS Code of Conduct will be followed strictly.


Leadership Responsibilities:

  • Manage your section, keep track of where they are and what they are doing, and consistently remind them of the rules. 

  • Inform the director if noncompliance or other issues arise.

  • Check your section’s uniforms and report problems. Students MUST be in proper uniform, including the NEW blue NHS band t-shirts.

  • Check that your section is helping with duties.

  • Keep energy and positivity high.

  • You may not give your section members permission to disobey the rules instructed by the director.


Chaperone Responsibilities:

  • Meet with the director upon arrival.

  • Arrive on time according to the itinerary for the week.

  • Spread throughout all locations before departure to keep an eye on students.

  • Ride the bus to and from the game. 

  • Walk students to the bathroom during games when needed.

  • Assist with keeping people out of the band section.

  • Help distribute water.

  • Help moving equipment on and off the field.

  • Distribute Plumes.

  • Report problems as they occur.


Duties:

  • Water - Clarinets

    • Load the coolers with water bottles, ice, and bring to the trailer. Dump excess water and ice at the end of the night.

  • Equipment - Saxes, Low Brass, Auxiliary, & Percussion

    • Assist with loading and unloading equipment onto the trailer and the bus. Follow the Road Crew Captain’s instructions. Make sure the trailer has coolers, pit percussion, drums, auxiliary equipment, the podium, plumes, and seat covers.

  • Uniforms - High Brass

    • Assist the uniform committee with passing out and returning uniforms.

  • Cleanup - Flutes

    • Check the Hallways and Band room for trash, dirt, discarded personal belongings, etc. Everyone is required to pick up garbage and debris before and after the game.

Uniforms:

  • Only the uniform committee is allowed in the uniform room at any time.

  • We have an assigned list of uniforms, if you take one that is not assigned to you, you will receive demerits.

  • Leaders will gather their section’s uniforms and distribute them based on the list.

  • Leaders do a uniform check of their section.

  • No eating in uniform.

  • Only wear the new, blue band t-shirts under the uniform.

  • Jackets must be folded properly when not in use. 

  • Hair must be tucked inside shako during performances.

  • Unassigned jewelry must be removed while performing.

  • Students must group up with section leaders to receive uniforms.

  • Uniforms will be received and distributed at the same time.


Before departure:

  • You are responsible for making sure your equipment is on the trailer and/or bus. 

  • Follow directions given by the equipment manager.

  • You are responsible for making sure you have your full uniform (tall black socks, bibber, jacket, shako, marching shoes).

  • Bibbers, shoes, tall black socks, and blue band t-shirt must be on. Your jacket will remain on its hanger and your shako will remain in its box until we arrive. 


On the buses:

  • You must remain seated at all times, do not stand until instructed to do so, even upon arrival.

  • Do not leave the bus until instructed to do so.

  • No shouting, screaming, or otherwise raucous behavior.

  • You may not switch seats during our trip.

  • Boys and Girls may not sit with each other. Boys sit with boys, and girls sit with girls.

  • Follow the instructions given by the director and driver.


Upon arrival:

  • Wait for instructions before standing or leaving the bus.

  • Put jackets and shakos on before leaving the bus. Keep track of your hanger, leave it on the bus.

  • Unload the trailer and assemble instruments. 

  • Move pit percussion and water coolers into the stadium. 

  • Line up to cadence into the stands.


During the Game:

  • Conduct yourself with dignity and class. Everything you do is a positive or negative reflection of our school and our band.

  • Guidelines and policies in the Band Handbook and the TCS Code of Conduct will be followed strictly.

  • Do not taunt, harass, or bully the other team, band, or student section.

  • If the other team, student section, or band harasses, taunts, or otherwise insults our band, do NOT respond and report the instance to the band director. 

  • You will not be allowed to go to the concession stand, nor may parents bring you food from the concession stand. Food is provided to all students before departure.

  • Do not play your instrument unless instructed to do so.

  • Jackets may be removed but must be folded and set down in the stands properly when not in use.

  • You must remain in your section unless instructed otherwise or given permission by the director.

  • When taking a bathroom break, you must be accompanied by a chaperone. We will take a group bathroom break after half-time.

  • Only leaders may go and meet the other band members after halftime.

  • Pay attention and be ready to perform. 

  • Before halftime, the band will leave the stands to warm-up and prepare equipment for performance.

  • After halftime, we will watch the other band perform quietly and respectfully before we group up to cadence back into the stands.


After the game:

  • Collect and throw away all garbage. 

  • Put on jackets and shakos, prepare for departure.

  • Put away instruments, load the trailer, and group up to cadence back to the bus. After we break set, board the bus.

  • The students will call/message parents/guardians to let them know what time to pick them up at the school.

  • Follow bus procedures for the trip home.


After return:

  • Do NOT leave until dismissed.

  • Duties must be fulfilled BEFORE you change, including equipment and water. Leaders and chaperones will report those who do not help and disciplinary actions will be taken.

  • All trash must be picked up, lockers must be clean, and instruments must be put away before you will be allowed to leave.

  • All members of the band assist with cleanup. Cleanup crew checks the halls and helps everyone.

  • After cleaning is finished, everyone will gather around the podium and await dismissal by the director and leadership team.
